A wireless implementation is usually a custom designed solution, that fits into a company’s needs and requirements. Different infrastructure and devices is likely to form the wireless implementation and requirements like segmentation, branches, 802.1x, guestportal, device support etc. usually end up in a customised design.
In general these requirements are likely to implement in a wireless solution:
- An internally WLAN which are secure and transparent for the user.
- 802.1x is often used for an internally WLAN. 802.1x is designed to enhance the security of wireless networks. Either through Computer Certificates (PKI) or AD credentials.
- Using radius attributes, users/devices can be assigned vlans, acl’s. etc..
- A “device” WLAN, where authentication is defined by a statically key.
- Often required to connect devices that can’t use 802.1x. Ex. printers, streaming devices etc..
